TURKISH President Recep Tayyip Erdogan today signalled that he intended to call the next general election for May 14. Turkey’s next general election is officially due to be held on June 18.

Free public transport for disabled people soon, says Nancy Shukri

PEOPLE with disabilities will soon enjoy free transport services, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Nancy Shukri said.  She said Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook has approved of the move, but the mechanism to provide free rides for the group will need to be looked into.

Taiwan records biggest economic contraction since 2009

TAIWAN’s economy shrank in the final quarter of 2022, the government said Wednesday, in the island’s worst quarterly contraction since it was hammered by the global financial crisis in late 2009.  Gross domestic product (GDP) in the last quarter fell 0.86% year-on-year, according to preliminary figures released by the Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics.
