Egypt lawyers end strike after colleagues released

MEMBERS of the Egyptian Bar Association on Sunday called off a days-long strike held in protest against the jailing of six colleagues, a statement said.  The association had announced Thursday an open-ended strike to condemn their colleagues’ sentencing to two years in jail over a court brawl earlier this month.

Foreign detainee dies after complaining of shortness of breath

A FOREIGN man who was detained over alleged drug possession died after complaining of shortness of breath early today. South Johor Bahru (SJB) District Police chief ACP Raub Selamat said the 49-year-old was arrested along with 54.7 grams of ganja at a condominium in the city at 12.10am.
