Coronation oil for Charles III consecrated in Jerusalem

OLIVE oil, fragrant rose and orange blossom, the special “chrism” or holy anointing oil for the coronation of Britain’s King Charles III has been blessed in Jerusalem’s Old City. Yesterday’s ceremony was carried out at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where Christians believe Jesus was buried.

Johor flood situation worsens with 42,704 evacuated

THE flood situation in several states worsened as the number of evacuees at relief centres rose to 46,683 people tonight compared to 40,854 this evening. Johor continued to register the highest number of evacuees, with 42,704 people, followed by Pahang (2,860), Negri Sembilan (613), Malacca (448) and Selangor (58).

ROS clears Umno on no-contest motion

THE Registrar of Societies (ROS) has cleared Umno of any wrongdoing after Umno had approved a no-contest motion for the presidency and deputy presidency. The decision by ROS was revealed by Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

EU parliament chief urges Ukraine membership talks this year

EUROPEAN parliament president Roberta Metsola called today, during a visit to Ukraine, for the country to be allowed to begin EU membership negotiations this year. “I am hopeful that accession negotiations can begin already this year,” Metsola said in the western city of Lviv. “Ukraine’s future is in the European Union.”

Johor records highest rainfall in four days since 1991
