Rethink luxury tax proposal, urge retail groups
MAJOR local retailers’ associations have collectively urged the government to rethink and withdraw the proposal to impose luxury tax. The imposition of the tax may make pricing in Malaysia non-competitive and may deter tourist arrivals, according to a joint media statement released today.
Floods damage 130 roads
A TOTAL of 130 federal and state roads in flood-hit states have been reported damaged thus far, Works Ministry secretary-general Wan Ahmad Uzir Wan Sulaiman said. He said of the total, 56 were federal roads, which will need about RM130 million for repairs to be carried out in stages.
