Russian jets cause American drone to crash over Black Sea

A RUSSIAN fighter jet dumped fuel on an American drone over the Black Sea yesterday and then collided with it, causing the drone to crash, the US military said, slamming the manoeuvre as “reckless”. US European Command said two Russian Su-27 fighters intercepted the unmanned MQ-9 Reaper over international waters and one clipped its propeller.

Ringgit extends uptrend versus greenback at opening

THE ringgit has extended its uptrend against the US dollar this morning in anticipation of softer interest rate hikes in the US, after the latest US inflation data showed a declining trend.  At 9am, the local note rose to 4.4795/4835 versus the greenback from yesterday’s closing rate of 4.4820/4860.   

Santiago says PAS should focus on reducing sex crimes in east coast states

PAS must solve the serious issues of sexual crimes and poverty in Kelantan and Terengganu instead of its continued attacks on the LGBTQ communities, former MP Charles Santiago said today. Honduras to establish diplomatic ties with China

HONDURAS will establish diplomatic relations with mainland China, President Xiomara Castro said yesterday, without specifying if the Central American country would also sever longstanding ties with Taiwan.   Castro wrote on Twitter that she had instructed Foreign Minister Eduardo Reina “to undertake the opening of official relations with the People’s Republic of China”.  

Parliament to focus on children’s welfare issues today

THE issue of children’s welfare is expected to be the focus of today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting. Based on the Order Paper available on the Parliament website, Ismail Sabri Yaakob (Bera-BN) is scheduled to ask whether the government would review the conditions for approval of adopting children, especially those who are victims of abuse.
