MOT says no plans to raise vehicle entry permit rate

THE Transport Ministry (MOT) has no plans to raise the payment rate for the vehicle entry permits (VEP) imposed on Singapore-registered vehicles to this country. Its minister, Anthony Loke, said the current VEP payment of RM20 will be retained.

Ringgit closes higher against dollar

THE ringgit appreciated against the US dollar at the close today amid weakening demand for the greenback, tracking the banking crisis in the United States.  At 6pm, the local note was traded at 4.3990/4030 versus the US dollar compared with yesterday’s closing rate of 4.4190/4240.  

Belgium arrests 8 in ‘terror attack’ probe

POLICE have detained eight people during investigations into an alleged plot to commit “terrorist attacks” in Belgium, the federal prosecutor’s office said today. Raids were conducted late yesterday on homes in the capital Brussels, the port city of Antwerp and the border town of Eupen, the statement said.
