Ringgit opens lower v dollar

THE ringgit opened lower against the greenback as the US Dollar Index moved slightly higher by 0.20% to 102.64 overnight, an analyst said.  At 9am, the local note fell to 4.4170/4220 versus the US dollar compared with yesterday’s closing rate of 4.4155/4210.

French court jails man for 2020 cathedral arson attack

A FRENCH court yesterday handed a four-year jail term to an arsonist for starting a fire that severely damaged a Gothic cathedral in the city of Nantes in 2020. Emmanuel Abayisenga, a 42-year-old Rwandan, is also facing legal action for a separate incident in which he allegedly killed a priest in western France in 2021.
