Terengganu Perhilitan prepares to capture roaming elephant
THE Terengganu Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) has launched an operation to capture a wild elephant reportedly roaming near a village in Setiu. Director Loo Kean Seong said the department had recently received a report from Kampung Seri Bayas residents, who claimed that the wild animal had destroyed their crops.
MOE urges schools to avoid outdoor activities during hot weather
FOR the safety of students, the Ministry of Education (MOE) has again advised all schools to avoid outdoor activities – such as cross-country runs – given the current spell of hot weather. Schools in Johor ordered to suspend outdoor activities
SCHOOLS in Johor have been ordered to temporarily suspend all activities outside the classroom following the hot weather in the country. Johor education, information and communication committee chairman Norlizah Noh said instructions regarding the matter were issued by the state government to the Education Department two days ago.

Republic, which wants an elected head of state, said late yesterday that its chief executive Graham Smith was released, some 16 hours after he was first detained.
