1,956 dengue cases recorded last week

THE number of dengue fever cases reported during the 18th epidemiological week (ME), from April 30 to May 6, increased by 10.2% to 1,956 cases, from 1,775 cases in the previous week. Health director-general Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan said two deaths due to dengue fever complications were also reported during the week.

Media council formation bill to be tabled by March 2024

THE bill for the establishment of the Malaysian Media Council (MMC) is expected to be tabled in parliament by March next year, said Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil.  He said as of now, the process required a memorandum to be submitted to cabinet.

China inflation grows at slowest rate in over 2 years

CHINA’S inflation rate edged up 0.1% year-on-year in April, the slowest rate recorded since 2021, official figures showed today, signalling a weak recovery after lifting pandemic curbs. Producer prices fell for the seventh consecutive month due to sluggish domestic demand and lower commodity costs, data released by Beijing’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed.
