US evangelist Pat Robertson dies

PAT Robertson, the fire-and-brimstone evangelical preacher who helped turn America’s Christian conservatives into the powerful constituency they remain today, died today at the age of 93, his organisation announced.   The longtime TV host, religious broadcaster and one-time presidential candidate died at his home in Virginia Beach, according to a statement from the Christian Broadcasting Network.  

Russia's Memorial rights group co-chair on trial over Ukraine criticism

OLEG Orlov, co-chair of the human rights group Memorial, went on trial in Moscow today over criticism of Russia’s Ukraine campaign, which could see him jailed for up to five years.   AFP journalists at Moscow’s Golovinsky district court reported the beginning of the trial, the latest in a series against Russian civil society organisations.  

Applications for postal voting open from June 15

APPLICATIONS for domestic and international postal voting for the state polls in Kedah, Penang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kelantan, and Terengganu will be open from June 15.
