A SURFER was fatally attacked by a shark in the waters off a northern California beach on the Pacific coast of the United States, Xinhua news agency reported local officials as saying.
Park officials responded to the shark attack at Manresa State Beach at around 1.30pm local time (2030 GMT) yesterday.
