Employers will abuse leeway in stimulus package, warns group

PUTRAJAYA’S move to allow employers to negotiate with workers on salary terms during the movement-control order (MCO) is giving leeway to exploit employees, the Labour Law Reform Coalition (LLRC) said.

The RM10 billion stimulus package recently announced by the federal government has helped ease cashflow pressure on small and medium enterprises but has fallen short in protecting employees by making salary deductions and unpaid leave during the MCO an option, the workers’ rights group said.
