Group pushes for race, religious hate law

A CIVIL society group has appealed to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to seriously consider its proposal for a race and and religious hate law, after a Shah Alam High Court earlier this week dismissed its appeal to commence private prosecution against two Muslim converts for allegedly insulting the faiths and religious practices of non-Muslims.

Peter John Jaban, deputy president of the Global Human Rights Federation, said a memorandum on the proposed law was submitted to the prime minister on February 17.
