Russian ship docks with ISS to replace damaged capsule

AN uncrewed Russian Soyuz capsule docked early today with the International Space Station and will eventually bring home three astronauts whose initial return vehicle was damaged by a tiny meteoroid.

The MS-23 ship autonomously latched to the orbiting research lab, live video from ISS-partner Nasa showed, completing the Soyuz’s two-day journey after launching off from Kazakhstan.

NIGERIA was counting ballots today, a day after a historically tight election among three frontrunners competing for the presidency of Africa’s most populous nation.

Nearly 90 million voters were eligible for yesterday’s election, which went off mostly peacefully, although isolated violence, delays and technical hitches forced many to wait to nightfall to vote.
