‘Ant-Man’ stumbles but still tops N. America box office

DISNEY’S “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” fell off a cliff but managed to land on all six feet this weekend, topping the North American box office with an estimated US$32.2 million (RM143.6 million) in ticket sales.

Industry analyst Exhibitor Relations said the latest Marvel superhero film was down a sharp 70% from its strong opening weekend but still topped the field. Paul Rudd plays the size-changing title ant and alter ego Scott Lang, while Evangeline Lilly is heiress Hope van Dyne and the Wasp.

China banking tycoon Bao Fan ‘cooperating with investigation’

CHINESE billionaire Bao Fan is “cooperating in an investigation” by authorities, his company said, almost two weeks after his disappearance sparked fears of a renewed crackdown on the nation’s financial services industry. 

The China Renaissance chairman rose to fame as a key player in the emergence of some of the country’s biggest tech giants, supervising blockbuster IPOs and a landmark merger between major ride-hailing firm Didi and its top competitor at the time, Kuaidi Dache.

BN sends Bersatu chiefs notice for saying Zahid orchestrated Wan Saiful arrest

BARISAN Nasional (BN) has sent a letter of demand to Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Muhyiddin Yassin and information chief Mohamed Azmin Ali for alleging that BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is behind the arrest of Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan.

BN demanded that Muhyiddin and Azmin apologise and retract their remarks made against Zahid, who is also deputy prime minister.
