Australia seeks ‘unimpeded trade’ with China after costly sanctions

AUSTRALIA today asked China to resume “unimpeded trade” as ministers from the two countries held talks to repair their strained relationship.  China slapped hefty tariffs on key Australian exports such as barley, beef and wine in 2020 at the height of a bitter dispute with the former conservative government. 

Mother, 7 children die in fire in France

A MOTHER and her seven children, aged two to 14, died after a fire broke out while they slept in their house in northern France today, police and firefighters said. The blaze broke out shortly after midnight in the family home in the town of Charly-sur-Marne, some 80km east of Paris.
