Ringgit higher against dollar in early trade

THE ringgit maintained its uptrend against the US dollar in early trade today as growing concerns over global economic developments saw more investors shifting away from the safe havens, dealers said. At 9.15am, the local note rose to 4.4680/4710 versus the greenback compared with yesterday’s closing rate of 4.4690/4715.

More Batu Pahat flood evacuees return home

THE flood situation in Batu Pahat continues to improve, with the number of evacuees dropping to 2,540 at 8am today from 3,086 at 8pm last night. The Johor Disaster Management Committee, in a statement today, said 701 families are still taking shelter at 20 relief centres.
