3 witnesses give statements at LCS PAC proceeding
THE Public Accounts Committee (PAC) held a working visit and proceeding on the progress of the second generation littoral combat ships (LCS) owned by the Royal Malaysian Navy. PAC chairman Mas Ermieyati Samsudin in a statement said three witnesses testified from 2.30pm to 6pm today at the Boustead Naval Shipyard, Lumut Naval Base in Perak.
Blast in Turkey explosives factory kills 5
A BLAST at a Turkey military explosives factory killed five people today, a regional governor said. “According to preliminary information, a chemical reaction caused an explosion around 8:45am (0545 GMT) in the dynamite preparation department. Unfortunately, five employees were killed,” Vasip Sahin, governor of the Ankara province, told reporters at the factory.

Govt to launch TVET programme for women
THE government has agreed to introduce a technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programme specially for women, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said. He said the programme was proposed by Wanita Umno chief Noraini Ahmad and would be implemented in collaboration with Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka and the Risda-owned Kolej Universiti Agrosains Malaysia.
