Govt considers ways to help rubber smallholders earn more income

THE government is identifying methods to help and encourage rubber smallholders to switch to producing latex from scrap rubber and crepe rubber.  Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof said the change would help increase the income of smallholders because the price of latex in the market was higher than that of scrap rubber or crepe rubber. 

Magnitude 5.0 quake hits S. Africa’s largest province

A 5.0-MAGNITUDE earthquake on Sunday struck near Johannesburg, shaking buildings across South Africa’s most populous province, the Unites States Geological Survey reported.  The tremor struck at 2:38 am (0038 GMT) around 10 kilometres below the surface, the USGS said.

Ka Siong relinquishes post as Johor Baru MCA leader

PM assures continuance of medical studies sponsorship for JPA scholars

PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim has guaranteed that the Public Service Department (JPA) sponsorship of those pursuing medicine, dentistry and pharmacy will continue. Vietnam police station attacks leave several dead, hurt

SEVERAL people were killed and wounded in shootings at two police headquarters in Vietnam’s Central Highlands today, authorities said.  Six people were arrested in connection with shootings in the Cu Kuin district of Dak Lak province, according to the ministry of public security’s website.
