Hamzah pans Anwar for saying poor could be hired for protests

PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s suggestion that the poor can be brought to stage demonstrations is “nonsensical” and will only anger the youth, said Hamzah Zainudin.  The opposition leader said Anwar’s comment is insulting to Malaysia’s poor.

Fewer flood evacuees in Batu Pahat, Segamat

THE flood situation in Johor is showing further improvement as the number of victims at temporary relief centres in the two affected districts of Batu Pahat and Segamat continued to drop as of 8am today. The State Disaster Management Committee said 17,125 evacuees are still seeking shelter at 70 relief centres against 19,041 last night.

Wan Rosdy tops veep race, ahead of incumbent Khaled and Johari

THE new Umno vice-presidency line-up will see Pahang Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail joining incumbent Mohamed Khaled Nordin and newbie Johari Abdul Ghani, unofficial results showed. As of 11am today, of the eight candidates who contested, Wan Rosdy managed to get 117 votes while Khaled got the second-highest votes with 107. Johari obtained 96.
